Bomb explodes in Chile, killing man handling it

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - A homemade device exploded in Chilean capital Santiago early on Thursday morning, killing a man who appeared to be handling it, city police said. The man, who has not been identified, died of severe burns after the device exploded in the street in the central Yungay neighborhood, the police said. The event follows a string of mostly low-level bomb attempts, usually blamed on anarchists, in Chile in recent years.
