National Park Service (NPS) turns 98 years old on Monday (Aug. 25), and to celebrate, the agency is throwing open the doors to all national parks, and inviting people to visit for free. The NPS is a government agency under the Department of the Interior that manages national parks, monuments and historical sites. Usually 133 of the country's 401 national parks charge an entrance fee, but on Monday, the entrance fee, commercial tour fee and parking fee will all be waived. On Aug. 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act into law, creating the National Park Service.
