Some 55 percent of Americans now say they support same-sex marriage, the highest number since Gallup polling on the question began in the 1990s, according to a new Gallup poll. The new results are based on telephone interviews conducted from May 8 to 11 with 1,028 Americans, ages 18 and older, in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
